I was born on October 21, 1992 – in Hialeah, FL. In 1996, at the age of 4, I saw a movie that changed my life forever. The movie, none other than Jim Carrey’s “The Mask.” It was right after Stanley tossed the Mask over the bridge and into the water, dipped Tina down and gave her a kiss and credits began rolling upward after the iconic “SMOKIN’” line, that I knew, I wanted nothing else than to do make movies. I wanted to make others feel the joy, love and passion that I was feeling at that exact moment. So, there, at four years old I began my journey. I was always writing short stories, creating odd characters and acting out various roles of my hero, Jim Carrey, around the house, making my parents and grandparents laugh. Their laughter fueled me to continue, to push forward with accomplishing my dreams. From begging my mom and dad for pens and books that I “needed” in order to create, to watching endless films and learning the craft, the dream never faded.
As the years passed, I completed your basic schooling and then graduated Broward College. I then decided to attend the University of Central Florida. It was there where my passion switched from Cinematography and Directing to Screenwriting. Sitting in my room, speaking to myself in different voices and acting out scenarios in front of my bathroom mirror was more appealing to me than going out with friends, drinking and partying. Soon after, I began attending Art Institute of Ft. Lauderdale, where I’ve had the pleasure of continuing my passion for screenwriting, writing short films for both students and friends wanting to create, and those graduating. The dream continues, as one day we will all see, “Written by Kristopher L. Rodriguez.”
